Speaking Learning Through Technology Development


Long time ago, technology is more well-known to be used in business rather than education. So the teacher only teaches with less facility or just does conversation interactively with the student. In that time, speaking learning is more stressed on pronunciation. And the method that teacher use is behaviouristicaudiolingual method. It contains some drilling, pattern practice, and dialog memorization.
Then some educators assume that speaking learning is not all about pronunciation. But the teacher assumed that the fluency is more important rather pronunciation. So it changes the speaking teaching approach. And some educators develop some simple technology to become teaching media such as word card, song, and puppet. It makes speaking learning fun with those kinds of media.
And nowadays, the technology has been developed fast. The teacher is easier to teach speaking skill to student. Teachers use computer in speaking learning. In that learning, the teacher should not merely give instruction because the student will get more instruction in the computer rather than from the teacher. So the teacher only act as facilitator then student will be more interactive with computer. So it will be human to machine interaction.
Perceiving that passage above, we can see high development of speaking learning approach. More over when the technology is developed to become learning media. It changes how the teachers interact with students. It will be easier because learning can be conducted in long distance communication.

Which method is the most effective?


Some traditional teachers assume that direct method is effective method to teach because they act as the role of model in learning. So that’s why most of learning activity is centered to teacher. But nowadays teachers tend to teach with corporative learning because they want the student be more active. In corporative learning, teacher is just a facilitator. So teacher doesn’t need to give much instruction. In this learning, students hold the main actor while the teacher like as play director.
Last time, I’ve learned about some models of instructions. Those consist of direct method, lecture-discussion, guided discovery, multiple intelligences and cooperative learning. Actually teacher cannot use those kinds of instructions to be applied directly. Sometimes student feel bored with the teacher using direct method. But there are other students feel comfort with direct method because they understand easier by using direct method. And also some students like the teacher because the teacher teaches based on their character or their hobby. In this case, the teacher uses multiple intelligence method which is introduced by Howard Gardner.
Perceiving those case above, I can conclude that models of instruction is not only depends on students character or grade. But there are other reasons to choose the most effective model of instruction. For that reason, I hope I can teach well with the effective method by learning PETA subject.

Multiple Intelligence


Some teachers assume that there are two kinds of students in the class. There some intelligence and stupid students. Intelligence student is the one who always be able to do the exercise with less wrong. Meanwhile the stupid student is in vice versa. And sometimes there are some teacher blaming that kind of student. Actually that attitude is not appropriate to be done by the teacher.
According to Howard Gardner Theory, intelligence is not just being smart. Howard Gardner divided intelligence to seven kinds. So it is wrong when the teacher blame some students that they are stupid. Beneath it all, God has a created human as ultimate being with intelligence. So actually there are no stupid people in this world. But every people have different kinds of intelligences. Those intelligences consist of logical mathematic, linguistic, spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, musical, naturalistic.
Some problem in learning that is happened on students such as sleep in the class, difficult to understand the course can be caused by teaching method. Every student has different intelligence. Some students having intrapersonal prefer individual learning rather than group interaction model. So that’s why teacher should know more about multiple intelligences theory.
Perceiving that case above, I hope I can teach student based on their multiple Intelligences. And I want to apply character based learning. So I will divide the student based on their own characters. And I think they will more enjoy the learning because they learn what they really like.
